EYE OF HEAVEN, according to Booklist: “Mutant humans dealing with acceptance and self-confidence are not new, but they’ve never had it so good. Liu is masterful in merging espionage, romance, and the supernatural into fiction that goes far beyond the boundaries of action-adventure romance or romantic suspense.”
Life is good.
I might be in China, but I still have iTunes, and by God, I did not miss Monday’s episodes of Heroes and Prison Break! I love technology. I also love watching those PBS reality shows where they make people live in the old frontier, or some Colonial town, just for kicks. Because you could not pay me to do that. My sense of escapism into worlds without hot clean running water and toilet paper are limited to novels. I do not take those things (little luxuries, necessities) so for granted that I would want to enter, for pleasure or profit, a world without them.
Worked hard on my short story, novella, and novel today. A working trip, that’s what I’m on. Research mission. Yup. I think I’m going to have to research that foot massage place a little more, too.
