Chang Wen Hou Liu (1922-2012)

20 Jun

We bury my grandmother today, here in Vancouver.

She was a rocket.  Tough, smart, with this devil laugh and grin, and a raucous sense of humor. We’ve been spending all morning going through old photographs — and fortunately for us, there are a lot.  This was a woman who lived.  And that smile…

NiNi, we miss you.

She’s a beautiful and extraordinary lady with a beautiful and extraordinary family.

To Mr. Liu: Though you say farewell to your mother today, don’t forget that your birthday was one of the happiest days of her life!

All the best for the Lius at this time.

I’m so glad you have all those photos. Thanks for sharing them with us. I bet your grandmother had a really infectious laugh. Such a bright smile, straight from the heart. Hugs and much love to you and your family Marjorie.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. I love the photos that you’ve shared.

I lost my own grandmother last October, and I miss her so much every day. One of the things that’s kept me going is an album of photos that her friends put together for me, with pictures of her from different stages of her life and an airmail letter she sent to her family during her 1950s trip to England. Pictures and letters are never enough to make up for that loss, but they really do help.

Marjorie, I am very sorry for your loss. Today is my grandma’s one year anniversary of passing away… being my best friend, I know just how much it can hurt to miss a grandmother. I pray that you find some peace and joy in the coming days and weeks. Your grandma was a very beautiful woman. :)
