Father’s Day

17 Jun

This post is coming a little late.

My grandmother passed away last week on the 13th, and yesterday it was my birthday.  Today, Father’s Day.  My dad is in Vancouver making arrangements, and tomorrow my mom and I will join him.  My grandmother, his mother, is being buried this Wednesday — on his birthday.

My dad.  The best dad.  Great son.  This hurts him.

Don’t take anyone for granted, friends.  Be gentle with the feelings of those you care about.  Don’t be shy about demonstrating love, or saying the words out loud.  Make your heart big, and then bigger, for family and friends, and strangers.

Sad to read this. This was my first Father’s Day after my dad’s death. I’ve missed him every day and don’t think that will ever stop.

You’re absolutely right: cherish everyone while you have them.
