Flights, guns, and sun.

2 Apr

Our flight home was cancelled yesterday afternoon, so we decided to make the best of it with some more sightseeing in the Honolulu area.  The delay also gave us time to check out a gun range that we’d seen advertised (specifically to Japanese tourists).  We found the Royal Hawaiian Shooting Club on the fourth floor of a mall in Waikiki, and then went to town.

I have a lot of respect for guns — they are dangerous, and nothing anyone should fool around with.  But having said that…I had some crazy, craaazy, fun.  I love the rifle, which might be my favorite weapon.  After that, the semi-automatic, and then the 38.  When I get home, I’m planning on going to a range on a regular basis.

The rest of the day was beautiful — dinner at Yuzu, a quick run to one of the best Barnes & Nobles we’ve ever seen, and then a gorgeous sunset from our balcony.  This morning we’ve been taking it easy, and in a couple of hours we’ll head to the airport.  Hopefully, no big delays once we’re there.

Be safe, everyone!   And, if you happen to live in the upper Midwest and feel like spending time with writers, I’ll be attending Barbara Vey’s Reader Appreciation Luncheon next week on April 10th.  Tickets at my table are still available, I think.

I can see why you’d be a regular at a range! =P You’re positively glowing from sheer adrenaline in these pics!

Is Maxine going to start packing a rifle now? Hehe…

It has been great seeing your pictures of Hawaii these last few weeks and reading about your trip. I know you are very busy but I always wish you had more time to blog. Sometimes what you say will be meaningful to me and I find myself remembering certain posts even a few years later like this one:

Looking forward to reading your next books and stories!

Well, anytime you happen to visit Florida, give us a buzz….Steve will gladly take you to the gun range! He hasn’t taught special training since we left NY and settled here, but he’s looking to get back into it.

And I wanted to get the patio screened in. No, Steve, says, I think I’m going to get you your own pistol instead….

    Sigh.
