NYCC + AXM News!

12 Oct

I’m not spending the whole weekend at NYCC — just today and Sunday.  Tomorrow I desperately need to write: Hunter Kiss or bust!

Today was wild, though.  I haven’t seen crowds like this in years, and that was only in San Diego.  New York Comic Con, packed to the gills?  That’s something none of us expected, but it was wonderful and crazy.  Also wonderful: my readers.  I love you guys so much. All of you, so generous and kind, and impossibly sweet.  Thank you for reading these books. I appreciate it more than I can say, and it means so much.

Some news for readers of Astonishing X-Men: Mike Perkins is, sadly, leaving the book after this run.  All of us will miss him so much.  His art inspires me as a writer, and he is a brilliant collaborator.  He’s moving on to other exciting projects, though, and we all wish him the very best.

But here’s the good: Gabriel Hernandez Walta is taking over art duties beginning with #57, and he’s phenomenal.  Astonishing will be in excellent hands with him (if you saw his flashback pages in AXM #52, you know what I mean) and I’ve already turned in his first script: an Indiana Jones-type adventure, as Warbird runs away to Egypt to search for alien artifacts, battle aliens, get arrested by SHIELD, and unleash a weapon of mass destruction on the earth.  All in a day’s work for a Shi’ar warrior woman.

Plus, is Northstar about to be deported for being an illegal?

Now, here are some pictures from today!

The great crowd that joined us at the X-Men panel!

I met Daken!

And Lady Daken! (aka Zoe, who was a total sweetheart)

Ben Morse, editor Daniel Ketchum, and me! We had just finished our live interview in the Marvel skybox overlooking the event floor.

Jason Aaron, writer of "Wolverine & the X-Men" and "Thor", wielding the famous Asgardian hammer for the first time.

Eeee! Me and PINKpool (The "Breast Cancer Awareness" Deadpool)

      Hi Natalia,

Sorry for the slow response. Though I did take the picture, I’m afraid to give permission for you to use it, as I don’t personally know the gentleman dressed as Deadpool, and I think he would need to sign off, as well.

      Take care,
      Marjorie
