First of all, I have a book coming out next week on Tuesday: Within the Flames, the latest in the Dirk & Steele series. If you like dragons, fire, witches, romance, blood, and adventure (and some gargoyles, too), then this is the novel for you!
You’d think I would have been talking about it more, but I’ve been such a lazy blogger lately (busy writing, but still). I will be going on a blog tour soon, though, traveling around the web to discuss the novel. The first stop will be at Literary Escapism’s ‘Black Friday’ event, where you can find an exclusive excerpt to Within the Flames, along with a giveaway of three signed Dirk & Steele novels.
Go, check it out! And while you’re at it, you can read this advanced review of the novel at All Things Urban Fantasy, which has some very kind things to say about the heroine, Lyssa.
Also, Tiger Eye is still FREE on the Kindle. FREE, I SAID. FREE!!!
I went to Shanghai on Monday, and traveled by high speed rail. There’s been some controversy about this new system — there was a terrible accident not so long ago, along with other safety concerns — but hey, it’s definitely safer than driving in China, and I was curious.
First of all, the train stations in Beijing and Shanghai are HUGE. Cavernous, chilly, crowded, and super-modern. And, again, HUGE.
It took five and a half hours to ride down to Shanghai, with various stops along the way. It was scenic, the seats were pretty comfortable in the Economy section (I hear First Class is swanky), and everything ran perfectly on time. What a smooth ride.
Loved it. Also, Shanghai looks like something totally from the future. Right?
Finally, CBR just posted an interview taped during New York Comic Con.
