Hi Marjorie,
I love all the books in the Dirk & Steele series, but I think at the top of my list would have to be Tiger eye and Shadow touch.  After being trapped for so many years, Hari still had a heart of gold, and dear Artur...I just love him!  I just started The Fire King, and I’m absolutely loving it from word one so far! 
I was wondering if Lise Amarro is going to get her own story?

I have been addicted to the Dirk and Steele series since the beginning and have always had trouble trying ot decide which of the beautiful covers was my favourite. Now I know - it’s going to be The Fire King (when I can afford to buy it).  That is one magical cover and I love the touch with little flame with the crown inside :D

I was so happy to see the artwork, it really is stunning.  I love the Dirk & Steele series.  I guess my question has more to do with the techincal side of things.  How much research and world building do you have to do for D&S?  I remember reading that you wrote the first book in a month, but do you do much set up before hand or just see where the story takes you?

OH NOS!  This is what I get for skipping the laptop for a couple of days - I miss the chance at the awesome tote bag of awesomeness!  Maaaaan! 

Oh well, it’s a really cool illustration though.  Also, I like the thing that you posted about how it doesn’t require giving up much to write.  Me, I need the school year to start before my brain is online enough after bedtime to write, but I would never let it interfere with my marriage or kids.  So I like that post.  True art, in any form, doesn’t require sacrifice in those areas.  (At least not to the point of divorce and such.) Art comes from life, you don’t destroy one for the other or else you will have very little base from which to create.
