The heart of a fool is in his mouth, but the mouth of a wise man is in his heart. – Benjamin Franklin
My two favorite authors discovered in 2006 were Scott Lynch and Lee Child. So good it hurts. Not everyone will agree, of course. Finding books and authors you love is a deeply personal sort of thing. Everyone responds a little differently. But those guys rock my house.
I have other favorites, discovered long before 2006. One of them was pushed on me by a friend in law school. She would not stop going on and on about this one particular sci-fi author who was writing books about a doctor in space. So good! You have to read this! So one day when I was in Borders, I happened to see the first in the series she had been raving about, and picked it up.
Hello, Stardoc! Hello, S.L. Viehl! Hello, PBW! And thank you, Joy!
So, yeah. I fell in love with the series, too. And that was long before I knew the author was a blogger. But now? Heck, PBW, aka Lynn Viehl, aka S.L. Viehl (aka numerous other aliases), is the Good Book Fairy of the internet. She is very generous when it comes to promoting the works of others, and gives away novels like candy. She is also a wonderful writer.
So to celebrate the January 2nd release of PBW’s new book in the StarDoc series, Plague of Memories, I am offering for your vast enjoyment the first six books of the series. That’s right, the whole beautiful set, unsigned, and mailed to your door (I’m following PBW’s example on this one). All you have to do is post in the comments of this blog your favorite books ever. I’m always looking for something good to read, and I’d like to kick the New Year off just right. I’ll draw the name of the lucky winner on January 2nd, Midnight Eastern Standard Time.
Also, another book that should be on your radar, and that is being released next week on January 2nd: Meljean Brook’s Demon Angel, which is utterly fantastic and should not be missed. I am so happy for her.
