The Great American Romance Contest is looking for energetic, fast-paced contemporary romances set in the small towns, big cities and wide-open ranges of the United States. The ultimate American Romance story features credible characters, a well-constructed plot and a heartwarming central relationship between
the hero and heroine. An American Romance setting, and your character’s relationship to it, is very important, as is a sense of family and/or community. We are open to a range of story types, from comedy to drama. We would like to see a first chapter of no more than five thousand (5,000) words, plus an outline (no greater than ten [10] pages in length) of the complete novel. Limit one (1) submission perperson. The contest is open to both published and unpublished writers. Three (3) winners will be chosen from the entries. Each winner will receive a detailed editorial evaluation by one of the program’s editors, a free, one (1)-year subscription for American Romance books and the possibility of publication. Deadline December 31, 2006.
