Authors I miss

Oct 1 Marjorie

Someone asked in the comments:  Will other bookstores such as B&N or any other bookstore have this extra booklet?

The promotional booklet for Eye of Heaven is currently only available from Powells.com, but several independent bookstores should be picking it up, as well.  When I have that list, I’ll post it here, on my newsletter, and at the website.

I was thinking the other day about writers I desperately wish were still publishing, and while I’ll no doubt come up with a dozen other names over the next few days, the two that really stand are Lisanne Norman and Pat Zettner.

Lisanne Norman, for those who don’t know her work, is the author of a wonderful sci-fi series (called The Sholan Alliance) about human and cat-like aliens, who form a tentative alliance when a human woman nurses (albeit, unknowingly) a member of that alien race back to health.  They form a telepathic bond, fall in love, and fight other aliens who have enslaved the humans of that planet.  Really, really, good.  High on romance, high on adventure.

The titles in the series, in order of publication, are:

Turning Point

Fortune’s Wheel

Fire Margins

Razor’s Edge

Dark Nadir

Stronghold Rising

Between Darkness and Light

That last book was published in 2003.  Since then, nothing, and no updates to her website, either.  Doesn’t bode well, and it’s a shame—if these books were to be repackaged for a romance audience today instead of sci-fi?  Wooo….I think her sales would go through the roof.

The other author, Pat Zettner, wrote only one book (that I can find, anyway).  It’s a YA fantasy published in 1992 called The Shadow Warrior, about a human girl who flees her home when it is overrun by underlords.  She travels to find her brother, and along the way discovers friendship with the very last of the giants, as well as a goblin warrior who is the sworn enemy of her people.  I love that book (though I describe it poorly), and it is is also full of romance and high adventure.  You can only buy it used, but Amazon.com has hardcover copies as low as $.01, which seems shamelessly cheap.

Anyway, those are my picks.  Who do you guys miss?
