Monstress #24

PUBLISHED: JULY, 2019
WRITER: MARJORIE LIU
ARTIST: SANA TAKEDA

During her search for her kidnapped companion, Kippa, Maika Halfwolf was abducted by members of the Blood Court, a secretive organization that worships the Shaman-Empress’s bloodline. These cultists/warriors are led by the Lord Doctor, the last eye-marked descendant of the Shaman-Empress — and Maika’s biological father. The Blood Court is prepared to enter the fray and ascend to power when the Known World slips back into open warfare, and they are allied with some of the greatest War-Masters of this or any age. But Maika does not trust this father she never knew, not least because he surgically attached a prosthetic arm to her body without her consent.

Maika’s father tried to convince her to join his cause, inviting her to a high-level strategy meeting with the War-Masters and offering her advice, power, and information about her earliest years, when her parents lived together and the always-enigmatic Master Ren served as her nursemaid. But Maika held her ground and was prepared to leave her father’s compound when she made a shocking discovery: the Lord Doctor has taken possession of the Inquisitrix Gull, and is using her Monstrum-controlled body to perform gruesome experiments.

About Me

I write comic books and novels about grumpy warrior women, eccentric demons, plucky fox girls, and men who can shape-shift into tigers. If a merman or gargoyle shows up, all the better!  To learn more about me, please go here.
