Comics, Amazons, and Creepy Bookmarks…

Feb 15 By Marjorie

Congrats to Kaitlyn, Lisa W., and Holly for having their names drawn from the hat!  I’ll be contacting you soon about your luuurve songs.

Here’s a list of some cool links:

If any of you are interested in breaking into comics, CB Cebluski has been twittering a series of gems. Go, look, now.  I hope he collects them all into a single page document at his website.

Roald Dahl’s writing hut!

NamelessleTTer is a collaborative art project where people from all horizons leave personalized bookmarks in books with the goal of seeing other readers discover them. This is very interesting, and sounds like fun, though if I found a bookmark in some random novel (okay, not so random) that showed thumbtacks sticking up on a toilet seat, I’m not certain a) that I would think that’s funny or fascinating (except to wonder what kind of crazy had handled the book); and b) I might not buy the book in question because I would wonder what kind of crazy had been all over it.  You know what I mean?

Amazons live! French photojournalist Guillaume Herbaut spent some time with an unusual and tough group of 150 Ukrainian women who call themselves “Asgarda.” These women live in the Carpathian Mountains and follow a rigorous routine of fighting and boxing, often with medieval weaponry.

This is where I’ll be working today.  There’s hot chocolate.

Monstress will be back on January 23rd!
