So, I’ve spent the past couple of days working on revisions for Soul Song, as well as resting, recuperating, and revisiting. And by revisit, I mean, taking that long hard fall into books I haven’t read in ages, but that I suddenly have a red hot urge to tackle again. David Edding’s The Belgariad is one such series, and man, I had forgotten how good it is. I had a fear that my opinion of it would have changed since high school—because it really has been more than ten years since I read the books—but the story is still as good now as it was then, and reading those characters is almost like coming home to a warm fireplace and a big fuzzy blankie. There’s so much goodness—good, imperfect, stubborn people—along with humor and adventure—and the writing style itself is sweet. Something I haven’t thought much about, probably because I find it so rarely.
Here’s another story that’s sweet, and one that most of you have probably heard by now: Prehistoric Couple Found Embracing.
