John Steinbeck was talking about banks and industry and capitalism, but taken out of context, the line rings true for people, as well. We live by our imaginations. Our monsters. And what we create for ourselves is defined by how wild and complex those monsters grow. Minds aren’t meant to stay one size (so to speak). But once they stop growing…well, what’s left?
