Given that a ‘state of emergency’ has been declared for this area, it’s fortunate that none of us have any pressing reasons to hit the road. Taking a walk through the woods, though, is another matter entirely. The ice storm, combined with the snow, has turned the woods into something far more spectacular than the pictures convey (though I’ve included some anyway). I’m finishing up another project, and trying desperately not to go back and rewrite the whole thing. Every book, without fail, I hit a point where I want to rewind, erase, burn, delete, ravage, pillage—you name it. My poor story. It needs to build walls to protect itself from me.
Okay, deep breath. Back to work. I’m going to make this right.
