Many thanks to everyone who left tips on how to rid myself of ticks (and if you should have more suggestions, I’m all ears). And yes, I know I should spray myself with pest repellant, but my skin doesn’t react well to those chemicals. On the other hand, when balanced against the discovery of ticks between my toes…well, call me a big baby.
The next four weeks are going to be crazy. First up, Comic Con. Then, RWA. Right after that, the first half of the Olympics. That does not include the book and comic book scripts I have to write. Big adventures, man. I’ll be working hard over the next five days to get a lot in order before I take off. I do, however, already have one event on my pre-Olympic schedule: the USA Basketball International Challenge, with the Dream Team fighting Australia! Throw down! Fight! Fight!
Unfortunately, no one can match the 1992 team. Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, Clyde Drexler, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley? Could there have been anything more perfect?
Speaking of sports, check out this other flashback from the late 80’s—a Rutger Hauer/Joan Chen flick about football after the apocalypse. The trailer for Blood of Heroes does not do the movie any favors, but don’t let that deter you. This is a good flick. Not that I’m difficult to please, but I do have some taste. Kind of. Part of my enjoyment comes from the sheer animal magnetism of Hauer, as well as his chemistry with Chen. Very moody and simmering.
I’ve heard there’s an extended cut of the film, which I would love to find. Anyone seen it?
