First off, congratulations to Meljean Brook for making the cover of Publisher’s Weekly! It’s for an article about ‘Fresh Faces in Romance’, and it is well deserved. Her upcoming book, Demon Angel, blew me away.
Spent Saturday running around Shanghai with my dad. We hit the neighborhood where my grandparents used to live—it’s now part of a cultural area / tourist spot, but that doesn’t mean it won’t get torn down eventually. Modernization is bulldozing over much of old Shanghai. We also went to Madame Soong’s house and museum, which was delightful, as well as the Bund. It was rainy out, which worked in our favor. Not as many people to deal with.
The second and third floors of the building behind me is the old homestead. Two or three of my aunts were born there in the latter part of WWII. Some of the residents still remember my family.
